Sussex, Kent & Suffolk
Close to central London, yet far away from the busy modern world this is truly the garden of England.
From West Sussex to Suffolk, the sea has determined the story of these lands, bringing Romans and Saxon invaders to our shores, as well as kindlier imports such as traders and farmers, merchants and travellers. Look closely and you'll find that the past is very much a part of everyday life in these rolling green counties, and it's amazing just how remote the landscape can become, even though you're never more than a couple of hours drive from central London. Look across the marshes of Kent, the broad lands of Essex or the rolling downs of Sussex and the years roll back to a quieter time when everything moved slower and more serenely as it still does, when you take time to discover this lovely part of England.
